“From castles to caves, from land to waves, there’s something for all, to enjoy their days!”

Here are three of our favourites to get you started:

Visit

Porthmadog

First up, just a 3 minute drive, or just over an hours coastal walk, is Porthmadog. It’s worth going just to sit and enjoy a drink and watch the comings and goings around the harbour. It has a rich maritime history and there is a great museum there where you can find out all about it’s importance in the slate trade. Loads of great little boutique shops if that’s your thing, and even more great restaurants and bars.

Hint: Go a little further out and visit Borth Y Gest – a very pretty little fishing village with beautifully coloured houses, plenty of places for food and drink and a beach to explore.

Experience

Portmeirion

Second on our list is the wonderfully magical Portmeirion. Within a short 10 minute drive you can find yourself in the Italian Riviera!

Built and designed by Clough Williams-Ellis, Portmeirion is a village that stands overlooking the Dwyryd Estuary on the coast of Snowdonia and is an enchanting site to see. It looks and feels like you’re in an Italian hilltop village with its brightly coloured buildings and terracotta rooftops. You’ll not only find the buildings of interest, but you will also find secret passageways and winding forest paths to add to the mystical feel of the place.

Portmeirion has been used as a film location in numerous productions, most famously for the 1960’s television series “The Prisoner”.

Extreme Adrenaline

ZipWorld

And last, but by no means least, this is definitely one for the adrenaline junkies and not for the faint hearted! If you’re happy to take the 35 minute drive, visit Zip World at Slate Caverns. If you love adventure, thrills and fast paced fun, you will find it here. With 5 different adventures at this location, there’s plenty to keep that heart rate up.
Will you be brave enough to take on the mighty 1080m Titan 2 that takes you from the heights of Snowdon down into an underground mine? Come back and tell us you’ve done that and we might just have to buy you a drink!

Abersoch

Oh, and there is just one more thing actually…. visit Abersoch if you get the chance. By car or by boat. If you are travelling by boat, we’re literally only 40 minutes across the water. All you need to do is anchor up and tender in. You can even sail to Barmouth and Pwllheli too, two other great places to see. But going back to Abersoch, it has something for everyone whether it’s calm and tranquil you enjoy or lively and spirited. We won’t tell you everything about it, but trust us, take a trip there if you can. You won’t be disappointed.
